| Electric Pencils and Accessories |
Electric pencils were used to write call numbers on the spines of books.
They were used before typewritten labels became popular.

These are two pencil tips included in the box. One was for making thinner
marks and the other one was slightly thicker.

Transfer paper, also made by Gaylord Bros., Inc., was used with the electric
pencils. The heat from the tip of the pencil would transfer the writing from
the transfer paper. Note the writing on the transfer paper in the image
above. You can see in the paper has been used.
Gold transfer paper was used for reference and special books.
White transfer paper was used for books with dark covers.
Black transfer paper was used for books with light covers.
